Mahoning County

The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Mahoning County next week. Information is for the week of April 28. Work is weather dependent and is subject to change.


Interstate 680 bridge repairs

  • Continuing: I-680 northbound under Walker Mill Road is reduced to one lane for bridge repairs.
  • Continuing: Walker Mill Road over I-680 is closed through mid-June for bridge repairs. The detour is South Avenue to U.S. Route 224 to state Route 170 to North Lima Road.

Interstate 680 noise wall installation

  • Continuing: I-680 northbound has various lane restrictions from just north of U.S. Route 224 to state Route 170. Estimated completion: September 2025.

U.S. Route 224 bridge replacement in Canfield Township

  • U.S. Route 224 over I-76/Ohio Turnpike is reduced to one lane in each direction through fall 2026 for a bridge replacement being performed by the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission.

State Route 170 pavement reconstruction in the Village of New Middletown and Springfield Township

  • State Route 170 southbound is closed between state Route 630/Calla Road and Woodland Drive through late October 2025. The detour is state Route 617 to state Route 65 to state Route 626 to state Route 7 to U.S. Route 224 to state Route 170. Estimated completion: late October 2025.

Trumbull County

The following construction projects are for Trumbull County. Some road construction requires detours and lane restrictions. Information is for the week of April 28. Work is weather dependent and is subject to change.


State Route 5 lighting improvements for Bazetta, Champion and Warren townships
The following interchanges will have various lane restrictions for lighting installation:
•   State Route 5/82 at U.S. 422.
•   State Route 5/82 at Perkins Jones Road.
•   State Route 5/82 at Elm Road.
Estimated completion: late August 2025.


State Route 11 resurfacing in Vienna Township

  • State Route 11 from just north of state Route 82 to King Graves Road has various lane restrictions for resurfacing. Estimated completion: late September 2025.

State Route 46 bridge replacement in Bazetta Township

  • State Route 46 just north of Cadwallader Sonk Road is closed through early June. The detour is state Route 305 to state Route 11 to state Route 82. Estimated completion: late June 2024.

State routes 46 and 82 Diverging Diamond Interchange in Howland Township

The following ramp closures and lane restriction are in place through late spring 2025:
•  The ramp from state Route 82 eastbound to state Route 46 northbound is closed. The detour is state Route 82 east to state Route 193 to state Route 82 west to state Route 46.
•  The ramp from state Route 46 south to state Route 82 east is closed. The detour is state Route 82 west to Elm Road to state Route 82 east.
•  State Route 46 between Market Street and U.S. Route 422 has various daily lane restrictions.
Estimated completion: fall 2026.

Village of East Palestine state Route 45/state Route 170 resurfacing. Resurfacing in the village of East Palestine, including a one-mile section of state Route 46 from state Route 170 to Kemple Drive and a 1-mile section of state Route 170 from Taggart Road to Jimtown Road. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Completion date: Sept. 30, 2025.


State Route 154 resurfacing near Rogers. A project to resurface a 6-mile section of state Route 154 from Rogers to the Ohio/Pennsylvania state line. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Completion date: Sept. 30, 2025.


City of Salem – Resurfacing. Includes a project to resurface several sections of state Route 9, state Route 14 and state Route 173 in the city of Salem. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Completion date: Sept. 30, 2025.


City of East Liverpool –  9th Street bridge replacement. The bridge carrying 9th Street over U.S. Route 30 in East Liverpool is closed for 150 days. The detour for 9th Street from the bridge’s east side is Dresden Avenue to W. 8th Street, W. 8th Street to Lisbon Street, Lisbon Street back to 9th Street and reverse.  U.S. Route 30 traffic under the bridge will be maintained throughout the project. However, future lane closures will be necessary later in the project for bridge painting work. Completion date: Oct. 31, 2025.


State Route 172 culvert replacement near Guilford Lake. State Route 172 is closed east of New Garden near Guilford Lake between Lakeview Road and Woodale Drive for a 21-day culvert replacement project. Weather permitting, the road is expected to reopen on April 29. In addition to the culvert, the project involves replacing the pavement, guardrail and ditch. During the closure period, the detour will be state Route 9 south to U.S. 30 east and reverse. Overall project completion date: Oct. 31, 2025.


State Route 170 highway lighting project in Calcutta. A project to install highway lighting along Calcutta’s state Route 170 business corridor. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Completion date: Sept. 30, 2025.
