Warren Philharmonic to open season with Beethoven, Wagner

Warren Philharmonic Orchestra opens its 58th season Saturday, Oct. 4 with a Fall Masterworks concert featuring works by Beethoven, Wagner and Emmanuel Chabrier.

The concert begins 7 p.m. at Lakeview High School Auditorium in Cortland. The performance will be led by conductor and music director Dr. Christopher M. Cicconi.

Warren Philharmonic will offer two concerts during its 2025-26 season. Performances occur at Lakeview High School Auditorium, 300 Hillman Drive, Cortland. Concerts begin at 7 p.m.

Saturday’s performance will open with Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Overture to Egmont, Op. 84,” followed by Richard Wagner’s “Seigfried-Idyll,” WWV 103 and “Habanera” by Emmanuel Chabrier. Following intermission, the concert continues with Symphony No. 4 “Italian” by Felix Mendelssohn.

In addition, Warren Philharmonic will perform a free concert Friday for Trumbull County students. It occurs 10 a.m. at Lakeview Auditorium. Students in grades 3-7 will be given the opportunity to learn the stories behind the music. The performance will feature selection from the Oct. 4 concert.

About the conductor – Dr. Christopher M. Cicconi is recognized as a strong advocate for music education and community outreach. The Maryland educator has appeared as an orchestra and band clinician in over 100 public and private institutions. He has a doctorate in instrumental conducting from the University of Miami, a master’s in music education from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s in music education from Youngstown State University.
