Youngstown requiring trash in curbside carts; schedules unchanged

Youngstown requiring trash in curbside carts; schedules unchanged | The measure is for the protection of city sanitation employees.

Due to COVID-19 (the coronavirus), the city of Youngstown is requiring that all trash be placed in curbside carts for disposal. Effective Monday, March 23, any trash not bagged or in a city-supplied trash cart or a personal trash cart will not be picked up.

The requirement is out of caution and for the protection of city sanitation employees. It will allow workers to maintain minimal contact with potentially contaminated materials.

All sanitation routes will remain with normal pickup dates and times.

The City of Youngstown understands that people will be generating more trash due to the current stay-at-home order.
