Mahoning County CASA, a local child and sibling-advocacy organization, is seeking volunteers and donations for its November fundraiser.
The family-friendly event occurs 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14 at Westside Bowl, 2617 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown 44509.
Attractions will include live entertainment, vendors, raffles, a 50/50 drawing and other activities. Funds raised will assist with the local 501(c)3 nonprofit’s recruitment, retention and on-going services.
Entertainment includes magician, Robert Lane and musical acts Okie Ross, Brood X, Beast Killer, Super Corrupter, Leo D’Angelo and the Dead Foxes and Album. National touring act Volk will also be included in the event lineup.
Entry is free from 2-4 p.m., during which participants can see the magic of Robert Lane, access local vendors for unique items and gifts, and participate in the basket raffle and 50/50. Starting at 4 p.m., admission will be $10 per person.
“Though our organization has been in Youngstown since 1988, we are finding that many in the community are unaware of what we do to be of service to the Mahoning County area,” said CASA Executive Director Erin McGee-Hopkins. “We also are hoping to grow as an organization and board.”
“We are basically starting the program from scratch with an all new board of directors and staff,” said McGee-Hopkins, “and so this event is key to introducing ourselves to the community.”
What is CASA?
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are specially trained and appointed by a judge or magistrates to advocate for a child or sibling group while they are in the judicial or foster care system. CASA volunteers advocate for the child in court, school and other settings as appropriate, getting to know everyone involved in the child’s life.
“If I can dream big, I’d love to grow our program, allowing for us to provide more resources to the community and to host special workshops and trainings,” added McGee-Hopkins.

Vendors donating to the raffle will receive a discounted registration price of $20 for a 6-foot space or $30 for an 8-foot space. Regular prices are $40 and $50.
