Goodwill, Valley thrifts will launch the “Thrift Trail” as part of “Giving Tuesday.” Every finished map returned to Goodwill will enter participants into a grand prize drawing valued at over $500.
Beginning on “Giving Tuesday” (Dec. 2), Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries will introduce a brand-new community initiative: The Thrift Trail — a collaborative event uniting local mission-based thrift stores for the first time in the region.
Launching in honor of “Giving Tuesday,” the Thrift Trail gives the community a way to support multiple nonprofit organizations at once. Participants can purchase their Thrift Trail Map in advance beginning on “Giving Tuesday.”
The official trail runs from Jan. 12 through March 31, giving shoppers 2.5 months to visit every participating shop, collect their trail mark codes, and complete the experience at their own pace.
The Thrift Trail unites a network of mission-driven thrift stores — each dedicated to funding essential community programs — so shoppers can make a difference simply by doing what they love: thrifting!
Participating locations
- Goodwill Industries (10 locations in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania).
- Salvation Army (tentative).
- St. Vincent de Paul Thrift & Furniture Store (two locations).
- The Menagerie (Animal Welfare League).
- The Way Station (three locations).
- Angels Missions.
- Penny Pinchers Consignment Store.
- The Veterans Outreach Depot.
- Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
Every finished map returned to Goodwill will enter participants into a grand prize drawing valued at over $500, featuring gift cards and contributions from each participating Thrift Trail merchant.
“This ‘Giving Tuesday’ felt like the perfect moment to launch something uplifting, and collaborative,” said Goodwill CEO Shelley Murray. “The Thrift Trail gives our community a fun way to support multiple missions, discover local thrift gems and make a meaningful impact throughout the winter months.”
