Mercy Health announces contract with Humana | The agreement, effective Dec. 1, 2025, covers Humana contracts for Medicare Advantage and Managed Medicaid health plans.
Mercy Health on Monday announced it has successfully concluded negotiations with Humana, to ensure that more than 10,000 patients across Mahoning Valley will continue to have in-network access to Mercy Health providers and facilities.
This agreement, effective Dec. 1, 2025, covers Humana contracts for Medicare Advantage and Managed Medicaid health plans.
Through this agreement, Mercy Health hospitals, physicians, urgent care clinics, ambulatory surgery centers and other care sites will continue to be in-network for all patients covered by Humana’s plans.
“We understand how stressful negotiations like these can be for patients. Our priority throughout this process has been to protect our patients from uncertainty and disruption,” said John Luellen, MD, state president, Ohio, Mercy Health.
“With this agreement, Humana patients can continue to rely on Mercy Health for uninterrupted access to their trusted providers and services. We deeply appreciate your patience and resilience, and we remain committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care now and into the future,” Luellen said.
According to Mercy Health, industry-wide, contract negotiations between hospitals and insurers have become increasingly common, often leaving patients caught in the middle. Mercy Health aims to secure long-term partnerships with major payers to minimize these disruptions and maintain consistent access to care.
