Trumbull County Land Bank will lead a public meeting at 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 14 to discuss the demolition of the former St. Joseph’s Riverside Hospital. The meeting will occur at Grace United Methodist, 1725 Drexel Ave. N.W., Warren.

The program will include updates by the City of Warren, Trumbull County Land Bank, and the environmental consultant working on the project.

The 300,000‐square-foot property is located at 1307 N. Tod Ave. in Warren. Demolition of the former hospital is being partly funded through a grant from the Ohio Department of Development’s Brownfield Remediation Program.

The session seeks input from city residents and stakeholders on the site-cleanup process and includes project timelines and a completion date. The meeting will brainstorm future uses for the site.

The deteriorating complex has been vacant for nearly 30 years. Beyond safety concerns, the property has surface and subsurface environmental contaminants that will be addressed during site cleanup.

Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership, Trumbull County Land Bank, and the City of Warren, among other partners, have worked to secure resources to address a property that has plagued the city and Northwest Warren for decades.

A draft copy of the Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives will be available for comment at the meeting.
