Mahoning Valley Historical Society will present “Stories of Immigrants of the Mahoning Valley: African-American Culture” as part of its ongoing series celebrating the diversity of cultures within the Mahoning Valley.
The program will be held 5 p.m., Monday, Aug. 3 at Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., Youngstown.
The cost to attend is $35 for MVHS members and $40 for nonmembers. The event requires reservations and can be made by calling MVHS at 330-743-2589 or registering online. The deadline is Monday, July 27.
Sarah Brown-Clark will be the guest speaker. Cultural enrichment will be provided by Janis Jones, who will sing a selection of music related to African-American heritage. A meal prepared by AVI Catering will include fried chicken, coleslaw, baked beans, cornbread and assorted desserts.
The “Stories of Immigrants of the Mahoning Valley” series is coordinated by the Mahoning Valley Cultural Alliance, an advisory group under the umbrella of MVHS. The group was formerly the Ohio Cultural Alliance before joining MVHS in 2019.
