To help individuals build a strong base for managing diabetes and improving health, Penn State Extension will offer a “Dining with Diabetes” course on Tuesdays starting July 14. The course includes four weekly classes, a three-month follow up and a live cooking demonstration.
The classes will occur online from noon to 1:30 p.m. on July 14, July 21, July 28, and Aug. 4. A follow-up class will occur on Oct. 13.
The course is aimed at adults with Type 2 diabetes or prediabetes or who are at risk of developing diabetes; caregivers and families; and anyone who wants to learn more about managing Type 2 diabetes.
The fee for the webinar is $15. Scholarships and financial aid funds may be available to qualified participants. Registration is required to receive the link to access the webinar. Registrants will also receive access to the webinar recording.
The program will cover how to:
- Make healthy food choices.
- Plan meals and count carbohydrates.
- Set goals and track progress.
- Make daily physical activity choices.
- Read food labels.
- Eat wisely while dining out.
All participants receive the “Dining with Diabetes” cookbook, health and nutrition fact sheets and meal planning tools.
