The Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley has its eyes on the community as its top fundraising focus for 2026.
The Mercy Community Health Programs cover a variety of programs designed to help keep people healthy and out of the hospital. Mercy Health Foundation President Paul S. Homick Jr. says the programs address the most pressing health needs in our community as outlined in the Community Health Needs Assessment.
“It is important that we, as a community, come together to assist those most in need. We are focusing on our Community Health initiatives so that we can help our neighbors address some of the most pressing health-related issues in our community.”
Under the community health umbrella, there are programs for everyone.
Prescription Assistance helps income-eligible people pay for their medications. Specialists help them with paperwork, and instructions on how to safely use the medication.
Our Hispanic Health program helps with the unique needs of the Spanish-speaking community with translation services and outreach. The bilingual staff connect patients to medical and social services.
The Centering Pregnancy program pairs young pregnant women to go through their pregnancies together and learn how to deliver a healthy newborn. That program is followed by the Resource Mothers & Fathers program. New moms and dads learn how to care for a newborn, everything from feeding and bathing to teething and changing diapers. They also learn how to keep their baby safe in the home and car.
We all know that moving is key to good health, and the Stepping Out program offers information, assessments, and fitness activities at numerous sites in the area. The Dental Clinic and Mobile Clinics offer lifelong help; from pediatric issues to geriatric care. The mobile units are fully functioning dental offices offering cleanings, X-rays and extractions. They go to schools and community centers to bring the care directly to underserved populations.
By removing barriers such as transportation, the program ensures that vulnerable groups receive essential care. Our donors are our partners in making our community healthier. Every dollar donated stays in this community- to help our own. Healthy communities come from healthy people, in mind body and soul. Please consider donating to the Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley.
