Recently, I was asked to help judge homemade wines at the Children’s Mental Health Circle of Friends Foundation’s World Series of Wine fundraiser at the Lake Club in Poland, sponsored by Donald P. Pipino. The winner was Rocky Mitolo.

Another wine-judging event was Amico and Patricia Mariani’s annual Bacchanalia festival in Austintown, with the winners being Nick and Kelly Shirey.

I also attended the annual Angels for Animals benefit wine taste, which was a fun and worthy event as always. See my picks below from this and other tastings.

Upcoming events include A&C Beverage, two Thursdays a month; Barrel 33, every other week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday; Charlie’s Premier Wines of Howland, every Saturday; Cork & Cap second Saturday tasting; Station Square’s “Wine Wednesday”; the Upstairs Restaurant’s Wine Down, third Thursday tasting; and Vintage Estate, third Saturday tasting. If your restaurant, shop or charity event is having an upcoming wine tasting, please email me a month in advance at th********@**********ly.net.
