The Upton Association will celebrate “America 250” with a program on Ohio suffragist Frances Jennings Casement as part of their First Wednesday Speaker Series.
The program occurs 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 1 at the Harriet Taylor Upton House, 380 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. Refreshments will be available 30 minutes hour prior to the program.
Alexandra Lausin, executive director of the International Women’s Air & Space Museum in Cleveland, will portray Casement.
Casement was from Painesville in Lake County. Her husband, John, was a Civil War general and instrumental in the building of the transcontinental railroad.
Because of her activism in the women’s suffrage movement, Casement was inducted into the Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame in 2001.
