Defending the ballot box will be the theme of an Oct. 20 Youngstown Press Club forum.
The program will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown.
The forum will feature four prominent panelists with election experience at the national, state and local levels. They will offer urgent, candid insights into protecting voters and their votes and ensuring that every legitimate vote is accurately counted.
Election-security forum panelists
- Kathy Boockvar, former secretary of state and chief election official in Pennsylvania and current president of Athena Strategies LLC, which focuses on strengthening election security and democracy.
- Lisa Lee Kohler, regional coordinator for election protection and president of the League of Women Voters of Greater Youngstown.
- Jen Miller, executive director of the League of Women Voters of Ohio.
- Melissa Wasko, deputy director of the Mahoning County Board of Elections.
David Skolnick, politics reporter for The Tribune Chronicle and The Vindicator, will moderate.
Adam Chase, a Mahoning County sheriff’s deputy, will discuss ballot collection and security.
The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation, the League of Women Voters of Greater Youngstown and the Youngstown Press Club are sponsors of the event. A grant from “A More Perfect Union: The Jewish Partnership for Democracy” funded the forum.
The program requires pre-registration by Oct. 14. No walk-ins will be admitted. All attendees must show a photo ID to enter.
