Youngstown to host weekend open house at Chill-Can property | City staff will be on site for safety and to answer basic questions.

The city of Youngstown will open the Chill‑Can property for a community open house this Saturday and Sunday, giving the community a chance to see the site and better understand its current condition and potential. The property is located on N. Lane Avenue on the city’s East Side.

The property will be open from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday and noon-4 p.m. on Sunday. N. Lane is a one-way street and can only be accessed from Himrod Avenue.

Access will be limited to designated areas of the property to ensure safety. City staff will be on site for safety and to answer basic questions. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear.

“For too long, our community has seen this property through a negative lens and secondhand information,” said Youngstown Mayor Derrick McDowell.

“This open house is all about allowing our community to see it for themselves. To dream alongside of one another in full transparency. Community engagement means giving folks a peek inside to begin building trust for its new future,” added McDowell.
