
The Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University will host its inaugural YSU Percussion Invitational from 12:30 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 21.
The program takes place in Ford Theater, located in Bliss Hall on the YSU campus. The event is free and open to the public.
The invitational will bring together college and high school percussion ensembles and soloists from across the region for an afternoon of performances.
Participating groups include ensembles from Youngstown State University, Baldwin Wallace, Kent State, the University of Akron and Slippery Rock University. The invitational also features high school groups from Bay Village, Brunswick, Canfield, Cuyahoga Falls, Mount Lebanon, Norwin, North Allegheny, Olmsted Falls, Poland Seminary and Westlake and individual guest solo artists.
Featured percussion ensembles include Lakeview High School, under the direction of Tyler Husosky; Canfield High School, directed by Dylan Kollat; Poland Seminary High School, directed by Matt Hayes; the Stambaugh Youth Concert Band Percussion Ensemble, directed by Tyler Husosky; and the YSU Percussion Ensemble, directed by Dr. Glenn Schaft.
The event will conclude with a mass drum circle featuring all participating performers.
Parking is available in the Wick Avenue Parking Deck (M30) for a $5 fee payable in cash.
