Penguin City Night Market returns May 16
Night Markets include a changing roster of artists, workshops and featured nonprofits. This month’s market takes place 5-9 p.m., Thursday, May 16 at Penguin City, 460 E. Federal St., Youngstown 44503. The event is dog and family-friendly. (Penguin City Brewing Company)

Penguin City Night Market returns in May with vendors, workshops, artist and nonprofit spotlights, food trucks and specialty drinks.

The market occurs 5-9 p.m., Thursday, May 16 at Penguin City, 460 E. Federal St., Youngstown 44503. The event is dog and family-friendly.

Coming this month:

  • Brianna Workman of Youngstown is the featured artist. Workman is known for colorful, alluring illustrations depicting fantastical female figures.
  • Arts by Malorie will lead a workshop on bookbinding. The class will cover two different techniques and participants will leave with two handmade journals. No experience is necessary. Materials are included in the $35 fee. Email ma*******@ao*.com for more information.
  • Vendors include Amelia’s Crystal Place, All Things Auto Art, Heather Davison (airbrush tattoos), Ashen Relics, Baker Brads, Beach Glass by Tracy, Carol D Confections, Dana’s Cookie Jar, Crafty Shop of Horrors, Doughlicious Kolachi, Dream St. Designs, Ethereal Creations, Fattycakes Soaps, Forestview Farms, Herbs & Special Teas, Idora Threads, Infiniti Links by B, Kava Roasters, Krispies by Vel, Lindi & Luisa Bauble, Lola & Co, Maddy Bug Co., Mamalagels Bagels, Mary Mouse & Co., Rustbelt Soapwerks, Simply Made by Liv, Sunny Scents, Aris & Ever, True Hero 3D Printing, Two Eleven Creative and Wookee Cookies, Joany Bird, 1054 Designs, Sav’s Macs, Knotty Hookers, Shea-Mergency, Unabandoned Herbals, Little Paws and Minguicino’s Italian Pretzel.
  • YWCA Mahoning Valley is the featured nonprofit organization. Penguin City will donate $1 from every draft purchase to the YWCA during the event.
  • Penguin City’s Community Spotlight will focus on Mahoning Valley Pug Fest.

“We’re very excited to be involved in the Night Market. It’s really a good opportunity to showcase what we’re doing as well as maybe reach a new audience,” said Leah Merritt, president and CEO of YWCA Mahoning Valley.

Penguin City Night Markets occur the third Thursday of the month. Other dates this year include June 20, July 18, Aug. 15, Oct. 17, Nov. 21 and Dec. 19.
