The YMCA of Youngstown is announcing the promotion of Tamra Lucas to executive director of the Davis Family YMCA, effective Aug. 10.

After more than 21 years in a variety of leadership roles, Lucas will now lead one of the association’s largest branches.

About the new director
LUCAS

Lucas joined the YMCA in 2005 as a part-time group exercise instructor. Over the past two decades, she has served in numerous leadership roles, including member-engagement coordinator, membership director and senior member services director.

Lucas has led membership operations at both the Davis Family YMCA and Central YMCA, while also overseeing arts-and-humanities programming, member-experience initiatives, and facility-support services. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for building strong teams, developing staff and creating meaningful relationships with members.

Following a comprehensive search that included candidates from both inside and outside the YMCA, Lucas was selected for her demonstrated leadership, strategic vision and commitment to the YMCA’s mission and values.

“Tamra’s promotion reflects years of outstanding leadership, dedication and service to our members and our community,” said Beth Scheller, chief executive officer of the YMCA of Youngstown. “She has earned the trust and respect of colleagues across our association through her servant leadership, commitment to developing others, and ability to build meaningful relationships. We are excited to see the Davis Family YMCA continue to thrive under her leadership.”

As executive director, Lucas will provide leadership for all branch operations, staff development, community engagement, member experience and financial sustainability while advancing the YMCA of Youngstown’s mission.

“I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and for everyone who has invested in my YMCA journey over the past 21 years,” said Lucas. “My goal has always been simple: to create an atmosphere where people feel seen, valued and empowered to succeed. I’m honored to begin this next chapter as executive director and excited for what we’ll accomplish together.”

Lucas earned her bachelor’s degree in business and behavioral science from Liberty University.
