“Carols and Cocoa” features YSU music students and faculty performing a festive program of holiday favorites and contemporary seasonal selections.
Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music is inviting the community to celebrate the holiday season during “Carols and Cocoa and the Dana Holiday Concert.”
The annual event occurs 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown. Seating is general admission.
The concert features YSU music students and faculty performing a festive program of classic holiday favorites and contemporary seasonal selections.
The holiday extravaganza begins with carols in the Jeanne D. Tyler Grand Ballroom, followed by cocoa in the Concert Hall Lobby. The performance then moves to the Concert Hall for the Dana Holiday Concert.
Multiple ensembles to perform

The evening will feature performances by the YSU Dana Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Hae-Jong Lee; the Stambaugh Chorus; YSU Wind Ensemble, led by Dr. Michael Butler; and the Jazz Ensemble, under the direction Dr. Kent Engelhardt.
YSU’s Percussion Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble, Flute Ensemble, Trombone Ensemble and Saxophone Quartet will also perform. The Jefferson High School Show Stoppers are guest performers.
Holiday classics, jazz arrangements and choral music
The audience can expect a mix of holiday classics, including “White Christmas,” “Jingle Bells,” “Sleigh Ride” “O Holy Night” and “Let It Snow,” alongside jazz arrangements and choral favorites.
The program also includes the world premiere of “Carol of the Bembe Bell” by the Percussion Ensemble, adding a contemporary element to the traditional holiday repertoire.
