The Dana School of Music will present its annual holiday music extravaganza, “Carols & Cocoa and the Dana Holiday Concert,” directed by Dr. Hae-Jong Lee, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown.

“Carols & Cocoa” will be performed first in Stambaugh’s Ballroom and will feature seasonal favorites and a holiday sing-along. Dana School of Music students bring cookies to share, and complimentary cocoa will be available during intermission in the upper lobby before the start of the second concert.

The Dana Holiday Concert will be presented in the Concert Hall and includes music performed by the Dana Symphonic Choir, Dana Symphony Orchestra, YSU Jazz Ensemble, Dana Chorale, University Chorus, YSU Barbershop Chorus, Flute Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble, and Trombone Ensemble. The seasonal repertoire features “Many Moods of Christmas, Suite III” by Robert Shaw and Bennett; “Te Deum” by John Rutter; “Sing” by Pentatonic and many other holiday selections. Faculty soloists are Dr. Misook Yun, soprano, Dr. Maria Fenty Denison, mezzo-soprano and Joseph Kromholz, violin.

The Lakeview High School Chamber Choir and the Stambaugh Chorus are guest performers.

Tickets, which are all general admission, may be purchased in advance at the Stambaugh Auditorium Box Office, in person or by phone at 330-259-0555; or online at www.stambaughauditorium.com. Tickets will also be available that evening. Ticket prices are $11 for adults, $6 for students from other schools and senior citizens. The event is free for children under 12 and anyone with a valid YSU ID.

YSU’s student internet radio station, Rookery Radio, will rebroadcast the concert at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10. To hear the rebroadcast, patrons should go to www.rookeryradio.com and click on the link under “Listen Now.” Armstrong Channels 20/100 will also rebroadcast the concert throughout the holiday season.

Several other holiday related events will occur, hosted and sponsored by YSU’s College of Creative Arts & Communication:

The Keyboard Holiday Extravaganza. Bliss Recital Hall, Bliss Hall, YSU, Wick Avenue at Spring Street, Youngstown, 44555; 330-941-3636. A performance featuring classical and holiday music for piano in a festive setting by students of the Dana School of Music. 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4.

Music at Noon: YSU at the USO. Music at Noon. Butler Institute of American Art, 524 Wick Ave., Youngstown, 44502; 330-941-3636. Musical-theater students will present the program “YSU at the USO,” featuring seasonal favorites and music from the World War II-era. 12:15 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 6.
