Kent Trumbull to host Tech & Trade open house Feb. 27

The open house is designed for area high school and adult learners, as well as local businesses interested in training opportunities for their employees.

Kent State University’s College of Technical Studies (CATS) will host a Tech & Trade open house on the Trumbull Campus to showcase its engineering technology and semiconductor program.

The open house is 3-6 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27, in the Technology Building.

Tours, hands-on activities

The event will include tours of Kent State Trumbull’s mechanical engineering technology labs, featuring a state-of-the-art HAAS CNC machine that performs high-precision milling, turning and drilling, as well as hands-on activities in the microelectronics manufacturing and semiconductor manufacturing lab.

Visitors can also meet with faculty and campus personnel to learn more about the academic programs that combine applied learning, industry-relevant skills and career-ready experience.

Career paths

At Kent State Trumbull, students can pursue the two-year associate of applied science degrees in electrical/electronic engineering technology and mechanical engineering technology. These degrees move into the bachelor of science in engineering technology degree with an additional two years of full-time studies, offered via Kent State’s Tuscarawas campus.

Kent State Trumbull also offers undergraduate certificates for semiconductor manufacturing technician; advanced semiconductor manufacturing technician; computer-aided drafting: design technician; and CAD for manufacturing; as well as microcredential programs in 3D printing; drafting and design; electrical technician; and introduction to semiconductors for STEM majors.
